Attached further down are the entry forms for two galas coming up in late November and these will be the last two opportunities to compete this year.
They follow one weekend after another.
The first is the Junior Sprint Meet at Wrexham on Sunday 20th November 2016. This is for 9, 10, 11 & 12 year olds with age on day of swim. The 9 & 10yrs do 25m all strokes plus 100m IM whilst the 11 & 12yrs do 50m all strokes plus 100 IM. You can enter an event without any previous times. Entry fee is £4.50 per event. Deadline to return forms for this gala is Friday 14th October 2016.
The second one is the Swim Wales Sub Regional Championships at Llandudno on the 25th, 26th and 27th November 2016. Age groups are 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15&16 and 17+ years with age as of 31/12/16. On the Friday evening will be the 1500 (boys) & 800 (girls). Events on the Saturday & Sunday include 50free plus 100 & 200 in all strokes and 400free plus 200 & 400IM. Entry fee is £5 per event. There are no lower qualifying times and entries will be accepted with No Times so it’s a great chance for everyone to try something new particularly the longer distances – everyone should do a 1500m or 400m at least once in their lives! Deadline to return forms for this one is Friday 28th October 2016.
We will need to provide officials for both galas so please let me know if you can help.

Entry Form – Sub Regionals 2016
Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Tuesday 4th of October 2016 at 7.15pm at the offices of Morgans Accountants at Clive House, Severn Road, Welshpool, SY21 7AL.
There’ll be a warm welcome to all so please do come along and show your support.
Christmas has come early to Welshpool Sharks!
Thanks to Alison Wilding who made a successful grant bid for us earlier this year we’ve been able to buy four portable pace clocks and four freestanding white boards.
The portable pace clocks will enable us to set intervals and sets at both ends of the pool as well as being much easier for our swimmers to see. They’ll also be great to teach and encourage our younger swimmers to use a pacing clock.
The boards will be used to write up the training sets for a session allowing swimmers to get on with it themselves. As the Club grows, there is a growing range of ability in each lane and these boards will enable the swimmer to read the session for themselves and get on with it.
With one of the new portable pace clocks on each lane as well it will make it all the more easier for swimmers to push themselves and hopefully benefit even more from each session.
Just as soon as they’re transported down to The Flash, Head Coach Peter Swanton and his team will put them to good use.
A room full of swimmers and parents met last weekend to hear about nutrition and sport.
The speaker was Gwawr Jones, a dietician based in Cardiff but born and bred in Welshpool and she covered good diet in general and then moved on to explain how it should be adapted for training and competition.
At the end several cars were seen heading off to Tesco to put into practice what they’d heard and learned!
One mum said afterwards: “It was great. Some changes ahead for my household, think I may have some resistance though, so small steps needed at first!”
Thank you to Alison Wilding for arranging the event.
The Swim Wales North Wales Sub Regional Championships for 2016 will take place on the 25, 26 & 27 November at Llandudno.
On the Friday evening will be the 1500m (boys) & 800m (girls). Other events will follow on the Saturday & Sunday to include 50free and 100 & 200 in all strokes and 400free plus 200 & 400IM.
Age groups are 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15&16 and 17+ with your age as of 31 Dec 2016.
Cost will be £5 per event.
There are upper qualifying times but these are still suitable for all our swimmers. There are no lower qualifying times and entries will be accepted with ‘No Times’ so it’s a great chance for swimmers to try a new event particularly the longer 400+ events.
We’ll circulate our internal entry form in October and just giving you early notice of the dates now.
Judges – We will need to provide officials for this gala so it would be good to hear from you as to your availability.
