Montgomeryshire Sports Awards Success

IMG_20160106_215105Welshpool Sharks featured at this evening’s Montgomeryshire Sports Award Ceremony at Theatre Hafren.

Our Chair Bronwen Poole was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” in recognition of all that she has done for the Club and the development of our swimmers.

Bronwen really is unstoppable and now in her late 60’s she thinks nothing of giving up 3hours each week as well as travelling up and down Wales on weekends to officiate. Her continued enthusiasm after some 30 years volunteering with the Club is an inspiration to us all and this Award is truly very well deserved.

IMG_1333Our swimmers also featured during the presentation evening coming runner-up in the “Junior Sports Team of the Year” category in recognition of their performance in last year’s East Clwyd League. After good performances in the first two rounds, the team needed to pull off a strong performance in the third and final round to top the table. It was an exciting couple of hours of swimming but Sharks rose to the challenge and finished top of the table by 2 points to win the league for the first time ever. It was a great achievement and it’s pleasing to see our swimmers performance being recognised at tonight’s Award Ceremony.
