Results – Swim Wales North Sub Regional Campionships

swnThe first day of the Swim Wales Sub Regional Championships last weekend didn’t start off too well with gale force winds having damaged the venue at Llandudno Friday night and a health & safety inspection delayed the start.

Once things did get started though, it turned out to be a great weekend for Sharks. A lot of really impressive performances and over the course of the weekend our 12 Sharks between them took a fine haul of medals and a huge number of personal best times.

llswim[1]Day 1 started with the 1500 where Deiniol & Carwyn Owen swam really consistent splits finishing in 23:50.99 & 20:59.23 respectively. This was a huge 2minute pb and Gold for Deiniol and a great first attempt at 1500 by Carwyn.

Then we witnessed in quick succession 6 pb’s in the boys 100 free with Carwyn down to 1:06.0; Iwan Ellis 1:08.0; Deiniol & Morgan Matthews (Bronze) smashing past the 1:20.0 mark and Dyfrig Jones (Silver) & Robbie Marsden-Jones taking chunks off their best times too.

Kate Pugh pb’d in the 100 fly with Megan Ellis swimming strongly too. Another set of big pb’s in the boys 200 breast for Carwyn (Silver), Deiniol (Bronze), Iwan (Bronze), Bryn Jones & Robbie with Kate following suite in her 100 breast. The 200 back saw Dyfrig win Bronze & Jamie Marsden-Jones lowering his best by some 30secs followed by another set of big pb’s in the 200 IM for Iwan (Silver), Deiniol, Morgan, Dyfrig & Robbie.

The girls were not to be outshone though as Kate put in a terrific effort to win the 400 free taking 25secs off her best with Elain Owen & Kira Jones swimming really strongly to smash their bests in the 200 breast. The day finished with the boys 100 breast with Silver for Carwyn whilst Iwan, Bryn Jones & Robbie lowered their best times.

Day 2 again saw our boys & girls putting in some great swims despite the late finish the night before and another early start.

Megan, Cari Jones, Elain & Kira shared a total of 16 personal best times on the Sunday alone! On the medal front we saw Dyfrig win Gold in the 100fly, Kate take Silver in the 800 and Deiniol a Bronze in the 400IM.

MedalsAcross both days, Sharks finished with 3 Golds, 5 Silvers & 5 Bronze with personal best times in 52 of their 69 events.

Our swimmers should all be really proud of their achievements and well done to Head Coach Peter Swanton, some great results this weekend for the Club.

Thank you to Bronwen Poole & Megan Robins who turned out on our behalf to officiate on both days and also to Alwyn Jones who officiated during the weekend too.
