Congratulations to Jason Simister (Tri 3) and Freddie Murton Jones (Tri 1) who both made the podium.

A big well done to everyone else as well – Aaliyah Robins, Kate Pugh, Carwyn & Deiniol Owen, Morgan Bowen, Keira McVeagh, Ben Simister, Jamie & Robbie Marsden-Jones and Kelsie Webster.

Some hadn’t done an event of this kind before but they all put in the effort on both the swim and the run. These types of events are physically and mentally challenging – tough going – so well done everyone!

The full results including a split time for the swim, the transition, and the run can be found at this link –

ECL Juniors Round 2

ECL TeamWe saw a real gutsy performance from our junior swimmers at the East Clwyd League who finished 4th place at today’s second round at Holywell despite being very low on numbers.

Today’s league meet coincided with many other events & commitments so we could only muster 9 girls and just 4 boys for the journey northwards.

But between them, they managed to cover 37 of the 41 events. In addition to swimming in their own age group, most had to swim up an age group, several swum up two age groups and one swam up 3 age groups!

Group Hug!The team finished a hard fought 4th place and despite fielding such a depleted team to last time, were only 16 points down on their performance in round one where they finished joint second.

Such committed swimming was rewarded with a group hug from Megan!

Thank you to two of our senior swimmers Morgan Davies & Aaliyah Robbins who gave up their time to come along to help with the team on poolside.

Thank you also to our travelling (voluntary) officials Megan, Pat & Bronwen along with parent Rachel Smith who filled in with timekeeping duties.

Second Round Result: 1st – Wrexham 183pts; 2nd Flint 165pts; 3rd Buckley 147pts; 4th  Welshpool 138pts; 5th – Mold 82pts; 6th – Connah’s Quay 0pts

Here are the official times & placing’s from today:

Parents … WE NEED YOU!

JudgeAs a competitive swimming club, when we attend galas & league meets we are expected to provide a number of officials.

We are currently very short of qualified judges & timekeepers so intend to run a Level 1 Judge course.

If you’re interested in finding out a bit more or think you might be interested, please come along to The Flash next Wednesday 13th May at 7:30pm for a quick chat about the roles and different levels of officials. We’ll outline what is involved in taking the course and it’ll be an opportunity for you to ask questions.

There is no cost or obligation if you decide it’s not for you.

“When I first started as an official I was really scared i would do something wrong especially with the timing, but it is so much easier than I thought & I have met some fantastic people”

“I really enjoy judging, its much better than sitting for ages waiting for my daughters next race, & I’ve learnt loads”

If you can’t make it but are interested in these roles please speak to Megan or send us an email at

Cardiff International Meet 2015

IMG_8675We’ve now heard from the City of Cardiff Swimming Club about our entries to their International Meet on Friday 29 – Sunday 31 May 2015. As it’s on the last weekend before the qualifying window closes for the summer nationals, they’ve been inundated with entries – 948 swimmers from 95 Clubs with 4,485 entries across the Meet!

Sadly they are well over the permitted session hours and have had to scratch entries but in recent days have had a rethink on the “Finals” sessions and decided in order to accommodate as many swimmers as possible to convert all of the 200m events to Heat Declared Winners and with the time “saved” they have been able to include more swimmers. This benefits Aaliyah , Carwyn & Deiniol either by being reinstated in full or having an SCR amended to ALT. Our other swimmers were unaffected in their choice of events. here will still be the open 50s and 100m Finals.

The confirmed & scratched entries are now published and available below along with the warm-up structure & information sheet.

Please pay attention to the warm-up schedule as it’s an early (very) start each day!
