We’ve received tonight the warm-up schedule, timeline, further information & psyche sheet for this weekends (2nd & 3rd May) Spring Meet at Wrexham. All attached:
There will be no training next Sunday 3rd May as the coaching team are all away at galas in Manchester & Wrexham.
Please note too that training on Sundays will now include an opportunity to practice your transition skills ahead of the Wreking aquathlon on the 24th May – anyone interested should bring their running shoes, poolside top & towel. The practice will take the form of a swim-transition-run in the last 10minutes of the session.
Those who aren’t interested in triathlon/aquathlon transition practice will complete the session swim set.
A lot of our swimmers were unavailable but the small team of 8-12 year olds who travelled to Holywell managed to cover every event bar for one, the Boys 9&under relay where we were short of swimmers.
Our young team turned out some great swims and finished a well deserved joint 2nd place. A great result and the team can hopefuly build on this performance in the two rounds that are to come on the 16 May & 13 June 2015.
1st – Flint 162pts; 2nd – Welshpool 154pts; 2nd – Wrexham 154pts; 4th – Buckley 150pts; 5th – Connah’s Quay 93pts; 6th – Mold 66pts
Here are the official results from yesterday:
We’ve entry details for 27 swimmers.
Warm-up and start times have yet to be published.
Medals will be awarded to the top six in all events but swimmers who break the upper qualifying times will be given speeding tickets and removed from the medal positions.
The spectator fee for the day will be £5 & the cafeteria will remain open all day.
This aquathlon – Darwin’s Challenge – takes place on Sunday 3 May 2015 in a 25m flat-form pool with the run route on flat & secured paths & grass.
Those competing from Sharks include Phoebe & Aurora Carter along with Carwyn & Deiniol Owen.
Good luck Sharks!
We should have confirmation of our accepted entries by Friday 1 May 2015.
It is possible that some of our entries will be scratched. This has happened in both Manchester & Swansea meets and I gather that interest in the Cardiff meet is just as high if not higher.
We will let you know as soon as we get confirmation.
Despite the meet being oversubscribed we have just the two ‘scratched’ entries from Welshpool – Finlay 200 IM & Ben 200 Free.
Confirmed entries, scratched entries & updated list of events attached.
Information on the timetable remains limited. Currently we know that Friday (Session 1) will start at 4pm. Saturday (Session 2) will start at 8am (warm-up) as will Sunday (Session 4). For further information on the timeline, I suggest that our swimmers/parents keep an eye on the website:
As with the Senior League, it’s swam over three galas.
The swimmers listed below are needed if you could please let Pete know of your availability.
A team sheet will be on our notice board from tonight (Monday 20th) if you could please tick/cross as appropriate.
The team bus (£5 per person) will leave Llanfair Caereinion at 12pm and from The Flash at 12:30pm. We can collect from Llynclys X-Roads at 12:45pm as necessary but please advise.
Warm-up is at 2:30pm and the gala starts at 3pm. We’re usually back in Welshpool by around 7:30pm. The remaining two galas take place on Saturday’s 16th May & 13th June 2015.
All three galas are at Holywell Leisure Centre (CH8 7UZ).
Girls – Maddie Griffiths, Elain Owen, Seren Kershaw, Amelia Livermore, Catrin Davies, Abbey Jones, Grace Jones, Olivia Roberts, Kelsie Webster, Angharad Smith, Becca Edwards , Nikki Davies, Daisy Lloyd Evans, Anna Davies, Claire Fowler
Boys – Robbie Marsden Jones, Jack Lewis, Dyfig Jones, Toby Pritchard, Deiniol Owen, Tom Fowler, Jack Jones, Ben Simister, Jamie Marsden Jones, Carwyn Jones
It’s a very popular meet so we need to get our entries in very soon so we’ve a tight deadline of just a fortnight.
Deadline for entries with full payment is 8pm (post training) on Friday 24th April 2015 and entries will then be submitted electronically later that same evening.
Entry fee is £4 per event. Age on day of swim applies. Events:
9 & 10yrs compete over 50m on each stroke and 100 IM.
11 & 12yrs compete over 100m on each stroke and 100 IM.
13, 14 and 15&over compete over 100m on each stroke and a 200 IM.
Qualifying times do apply and are outlined on our entry form below but this gala is suitable for all our swimmers except perhaps a few who are on national times in their preferred events.
Entry forms also available on noticeboard.
Unfortunately the last two days were cancelled due to health & safety concerns when glass was found in the pool.
These two days have been rearranged to this coming weekend (18-19 April) but the results by Sharks so far are attached below.
Good performances with 1 Silver for Billy & 2 Bronze’s for Tom & Ben so far. Hopefully a few more medals to come…
