IMG_20150323_070152Attached is a summary of how our swimmers got on at the Tiger Bay meet in Cardiff this weekend just gone.

There were plenty of personal bests, a few ‘speeding tickets’ (a good sign with nationals coming up) and a hoard of medals of all colours.

The weekend was topped with Jason Simister finishing 8th overall in the Top Boy Award.

The Tiger Bay meet is a great event to target and highly recommended for next year.

As it’s a Level 1 meet the qualifying times are pretty fast and swimmers at the lower end of the age group in particular may struggle. If your times are faster than the QT’s you’re pretty much guaranteed entry. Where possible, the faster times within the Consideration Times may also be accepted.

Entry pricing is £6 per event. Age groups (age as of 17 May 2015) are 10yrs, 11/12, 13/14 and 15yrs & over.

Swim Wales Summer Open – Entry & QT’s

SWThe 2015 Swim Wales Summer Open Meet will be held at the Wales National Pool, Swansea from Thursday 23 to Wednesday 29 July 2015.

The meet will be open to all swimmers registered as members of Swim Wales, ASA, SASA or a competitor registered with one of the countries affiliated to FINA who meet the qualifying standard.

The event will be offered as guaranteed places to the 16 Welsh swimmers who have qualified via the qualification window which runs from 13 March to the 31 May and are not ranked in the top 24 swimmers eligible for the British Summer Championships.

This means that results from licensed long course competitions between 13th March and 31st May (plus ASA Regional Championships which take place in early June) will be used as the basis to form rankings from which those eligible to enter the summer meets will be identified.

Entry for those eligible will then be through two online systems as follows:

  1. Entry for Welsh swimmers ranked top 16 outside of the British Summer Championships (opens 10 June at 8am), and;
  2. Open entry with restricted heats on a first come first serve basis (opens 17 June at 8am). This entry route will accept LC & SC QT’s swam within the 12 months prior to the meet.
